ABC host David Muir has issued a horrifying breaking news update on his World News Tonight Show,

The 51-year-old shared with viewers that a crane had fallen over at a Massachusetts dock on October 24, leaving two people dead.

On the same episode of his show, which aired last night, David also informed ABC viewers that inflation is rising at its fastest pace since last January, with costs, especially the price of beef, “soaring.” He also informed his audience that Donald Trump cancelled trade talks with Canada “over an ad featuring Ronald Reagan,” with the president further accusing the nation of trying to “illegally influence” the Supreme Court.

However, later on in his show, he had to devastatingly announce the death of two workers in Everett, Massachusetts, after a crane came down at a worksite.

Speaking as images of the “collapsed” giant red crane were shown, David said, “There’s been a deadly crane collapse outside Boston. The pictures here, the massive crane coming down at a dockyard in Everett this afternoon.”

“Aerial pictures show the crane across the dock there, partially leaning right in the water,” he continued, adding that while two workers have been confirmed to have died, there is no word yet on what caused the crane to come down into the Mystic River.

According to the police chief for the city of Everett, Paul Strong, one worker was said to have died at the scene, while another passed away in the hospital. One of the deceased was extracted from the crane, with both men’s identities being released after their families are notified.

Everett Mayor Carlo DeMaria told NBC that the victims were “young men” and were working to dismantle a former fuel terminal, which had opened in 1965.

“May they rest in eternal peace,” Mayor DeMaria said.

Everett Fire Department also released a statement, saying, “This was a complex technical rescue which involved our members as well as crews from our mutual aid partners,” adding that first responders did “a tremendous job.”

The collapse reportedly happened as Everett Landco was working at the site, and in a statement, the company said, “We are heartbroken by the tragic accident that occurred today in Everett.

“Our deepest sympathies go out to the families, friends, and colleagues of those who lost their lives and to everyone affected by this incident. We are working closely with public safety officials and the contractors performing the work to gather information and understand what happened.”

David Muir’s fans were quick to send their prayers to the two men who lost their lives, with one Instagram user writing, “Sad news. May their souls rest in peace,” as another person penned, “Sad. May those two workers RIP.”

A third person also commented, “Condolences to the victims’ families. Thoughts and prayers.”
