Dylan Strome left Saturday night’s game between the Washington Capitals and Ottawa Senators with a lower-body injury.
While Strome did return after originally departing for the team’s locker room, his spell back on the bench was short-lived. He took just two shifts before being ruled out for the remainder of the game. Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery shared postgame what little news he could deliver on the first-line center.
“Missed the game,” Carbery said. “We’ll evaluate him tomorrow. Concerning, but I’d be guessing if I said anything about him.”
Strome lasted just 3:34 into the first period before being tripped by Senators defenseman Artem Zub and fallen on top of by Jakob Chychrun as both Capitals players collided into the boards.
While Chychrun emerged unscathed, Strome’s knees appeared to get caught underneath him as he careened into the wall. He needed assistance from Chychrun and John Carlson to get off the ice and did not put much weight on his left leg.
Strome finished with 2:34 of ice time, taking just four total shifts in the game. The injury ended a five-game point streak in which Strome recorded 10 points (2g, 8a).
