Liverpool are in a lot of trouble after losing a fourth Premier League game on the bounce.

The Reds do not really know what has hit them right now as they came away from Brentford with a deserved 3-1 loss.

The Bees were unlucky not to beat Liverpool by more, with Arne Slot’s side looking vulnerable every time they attacked.

The Dutchman certainly has a lot of thinking to do and changes to make, but there is one player he does not have to swap out due to yet another good performance.

Although he had another quietly good outing, he will not get the plaudits he deserves as his teammates have let him down yet again.

One player who has been simply undroppable since the start of the season has been Dominik Szoboszlai, and he proved that yet again.

The Hungarian worked his socks off, as usual, and tried his best to drive his team forward, something that was near-impossible given the performances of those around him.

He won 11 duels, made 10 recoveries, completed 72 passes and won three tackles, with all these numbers the most of anyone on the pitch.

He has been ‘brilliant’ at the start of the season and he continues to prove why he should be one of the first names on the teamsheet.

The midfield was a little too open again against Brentford, but the Hungarian needs more help around him, with Slot perhaps needing to think about making a change in this area to help his star player at the moment out.

Arne Slot needs to pack the midfield

Far too often this season, Liverpool’s midfield is being played through like no one is there, and this was the same against Brentford.

Teams seem to be able to get past them in just a few passes, with this likely due to the Reds playing two central-midfielders rather than three like last season.

This has left Szoboszlai isolated in this area, and if it was not for him, then the problem would be a whole lot worse.

The 25-year-old is currently doing multiple players’ jobs at once, suggesting that Slot needs to add bodies to this area of the pitch to solve the issue and get the best out of a player who can offer even more going forward.
