Brandin Cooks could be on the move again — and if he is, the Saints wide receiver would make NFL history.
Cooks, in his second stint with New Orleans, might be traded by the league’s Nov. 4 trade deadline, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, and he’d become the first player traded five times.
The 32-year-old is one of only three players to have been traded four times — along with linebacker Kiko Alonso and running back Eric Dickerson — and he’s played with the Saints (twice), as well as the New England Patriots, Los Angeles Rams, Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys.
So far this season, Cooks has 14 receptions for 127 yards with the Saints — a team that was thrown into disarray when quarterback Derek Carr stunningly retired during the offseason.
With QB Spencer Rattler and first-year head coach Kellen Moore, the Saints entered Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers at 1-6.

And with plenty of teams looking for wide receivers, a trade could make sense for Cooks.

Rapoport called a trade of Cooks “very possible.”

His production has declined every season since 2020, and the 5-foot-10 Cooks has yet to catch a touchdown pass this year.
Other Saints receivers Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed could also be traded, according to Rapoport.
Jakobi Meyers of the Las Vegas Raiders, Jaylen Waddle of the Miami Dolphins and the Green Bay Packers’ Romeo Doubs are also among the wide receivers expected to be on the trade market in the coming week.
The Giants were expected to go after some wide receiver help after the season-ending injury of Malik Nabers, but they could end up not making any moves following last Sunday’s devastating loss to the Broncos in Denver, which dropped them to 2-5.
