WASHINGTON — I think I should start this report on Venus Williams’ pre-tournament press conference on Sunday in Washington with the ending.
After Venus had finished holding court on a range of topics and stepped off the podium and out of the media tent—with her fiancé’s arm around her, one veteran reporter said it was the best Venus Williams press conference that he had ever attended in his three decades of covering her.
As someone who has been attending Venus’s press conferences for “only” a decade and a half, I am inclined to agree.
