Bryson DeChambeau won’t be taking home the title at the Open Championship this weekend, but he had one heck of a final round on Sunday.

The 31-year-old golfer posted a -7 in the final round. He finished at -9 for the tournament. DeChambeau is currently in a tie for 10th place.
DeChambeau went from being 7-over par in the first round, to -16 over the next three rounds. If not for that disastrous opening round, he could have been in contention with Scottie Scheffler on Sunday afternoon.
The LIV Golf star will now turn his attention to the rest of the season and the upcoming Ryder Cup.

DeChambeau has been a bit of a polarizing figure in the golf world over the years. Several years ago, he put on a lot of weight, got obsessive about his diet and started hitting the ball extremely far. He went viral ahead of an old Masters tournament, suggesting that he was really playing it at a Par 67. He did not end up contending in that tournament.
However, in recent years, he’s become more and more likable. He’s very outspoken when it comes to the media and he posts a lot of his own content on social media, too.

DeChambeau also refuses to apologize for where he stands politically. He’s made it clear that he’s supportive of President Trump’s involvement. In fact, he wants President Trump’s course, Trump Turnberry, to host The Open Championship.
“I look at it as a golf course,” DeChambeau said. “It’s one of the best golf courses in the world, and I’d love for it to be a part of the rotation.
“Albeit I haven’t played it, I’ve heard so many great things about it, and any time you get to play a special historical golf course like that, I think it’s worthy of it, for sure.”

DeChambeau has made it clear that he believes President Trump would do a great job.
“He’d still probably respect the R&A and what they’re trying to accomplish,” DeChambeau said. “I can’t speak on his behalf, but what I can say is, knowing him, he’ll do his best of a job as he possibly can.”
The R&A, one of golf’s governing bodies, previously said that it would not be doing business with President Trump.

“We had no plans to stage any of our championships at Turnberry and will not do so in the foreseeable future. We will not return until we are convinced that the focus will be on the championship, the players and the course itself, and we do not believe that is achievable in the current circumstances,” they said.
DeChambeau, meanwhile, very much seems to disagree with that decision. He’s hoping that President Trump’s golf course will get a major tournament.
