Big things are coming to Memorial Hermann’s Katy location after the hospital announced a more than $280 million expansion project.
At the center of the expansion, totaling $282.5 million, is a new eight-story patient tower, Memorial Hermann Health System said in a news release. This will feature more inpatient beds, advanced imaging services, as well as a rooftop helipad to transport patients via helicopter.
Additionally, hospital officials said the expansion will include a larger pediatric emergency center, upgrades to surgical services as well as women’s and children’s care, and expanded laboratory, pharmacy, and support services, including the kitchen and cafeteria.
The expansion comes on the heels of Memorial Hermann Katy’s current construction project, adding 100 beds, a third office building that houses the TIRR Memorial Hermann Pediatric Outpatient Rehabilitation-Katy. Memorial Hermann Katy first expanded in 2016 with the addition of the East Tower and a second office building.
Memorial Hermann Katy first opened its doors in 2011, as the area west of Houston began seeing significant growth. Since then, Katy and the surrounding communities along the I-10 corridor have exploded in population, with the region’s residential and commercial development driving increased demand for health care services.
Memorial Hermann Katy said the project is part of a vital step in enabling the hospital to treat more trauma patients.
“We are proud to announce Memorial Hermann Katy’s third major expansion in recent years,” Jerry Ashworth, senior vice president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Katy and Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospitals, said in a statement. “We are making this strategic investment in response to the phenomenal growth of the greater Katy community, along with our ongoing commitment to create personalized and compassionate experiences for our patients.”
Construction for Memorial Hermann Katy’s multi-million dollar project is scheduled to begin late 2026.
