After Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown’s hairline drew attention online for possibly leaving stains on opponents’ jerseys, Brown decided to face the allegations head-on via his Twitch stream.
“I’m cooked ngl (three facepalm emojis) Tap in,” Brown announced Tuesday via X.
During the stream, Brown got his head “shaved” by three friends.
“I blame Boston. Ten years of stress, the media, the championships. Y’all caused this,” Brown said on the stream as he was getting his “haircut.”
Brown then made a call to Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, whose hair has also been the subject of much speculation.
“Code Red. They caught me slippin’,” Brown said on the voicemail left to James. “I need to know, Turkey or no Turkey? And I ain’t talking no cheese sandwich.”
Turkey is a well-known destination for those seeking hair transplants.

The stress of thriving in Boston isn’t easy to handle, but it’s why Brown is among the NBA’s elite. Since the Celtics drafted him third overall in 2016, Brown, alongside longtime teammate Jayson Tatum, has been a foundational piece to their return to championship prominence. In that time, Boston leads the NBA in total wins (474) and win percentage (.660) while sporting two NBA Finals appearances and the 2024 title, which resulted in Brown becoming the franchise’s first finals MVP since Paul Pierce in 2008. That title also gave Boston its 18th NBA championship and broke a tie with the Los Angeles Lakers (17) for the most in league history.
This season, the Celtics are expected to largely (if not entirely) be without Tatum, who is recovering and rehabbing from a ruptured Achilles. Boston enters the 2025-26 season with lower expectations than in previous seasons, but Brown remains steadfast in shouldering the load despite a slow start for team success. The Celtics entered Wednesday’s matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers with a 1-3 record but still ranked ninth in defensive efficiency. Brown is already sporting some of his most efficient numbers, entering Wednesday averaging a team-high 26 points while shooting 50 percent overall, 47.8 on 3s and 74.2 percent on 7.8 free-throw attempts per game. Those 7.8 attempts would be a career-high over the season.
After Boston’s 125-105 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, Brown was asked about the internet buzz over his hair and what made him stream about it. “It was my birthday, so I was feeling great to be honest,” Brown said. “Got a Jaylen Brown day in Boston, which was pretty awesome. I’m not sure how many athletes have the privilege of having their own day, but that was my birthday, so it was a pretty good day for me. I just wanted to come out the next game and respond and get a win. Starting out the season 0 for 3, not ideal, so that was more on my mind than anything, just losing basketball games.”
Against Cleveland on Wednesday, Brown scored a game-high 30 points on 12-of-20 shooting (made 4 of 9 3-pointers) while adding five rebounds and four assists.
