Grande said she was forced to deplane her flight to Brazil due to a “safety problem”
Ariana Grande urged her followers to not “wish danger” on her after she announced she could no longer appear at the Brazil premiere of Wicked: For Good.
“Please don’t wish danger on us,” Grande, 32, wrote on social media, several hours after she announced on Instagram late Monday, Nov. 3, that a “safety issue” with the plane she was scheduled to fly to São Paulo, Brazil, was preventing her from appearing at the event.
Grande’s plea to her followers has since been deleted.
“We did everything we could and I promise you no one is more upset than I am, I promise,” she wrote in the all-text post. “No matter how upset or disappointed you are, please please do not wish danger on us or assume that we didn’t try .. there was no other time for me to leave and these plans have been booked for months.”
As Grande noted in the post, she finished filming her next movie Focker-in-Law on Friday, Oct. 31. She said she also “worked all day the 1st and the 2nd” of November as well.
“We were all scheduled to leave the same day,” she said of her costars Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey, as well as Wicked director Jon M. Chu. “It just so happened that this plane had a safety problem and I have explained why finding another option was impossible..”

In her initial announcement on Nov. 3, Grande made clear that she, her personal team and Universal Studios (the studio behind Wicked) “tried every single thing possible to fix this” and allow her to fly to Brazil in time to attend the premiere.
“I am so heartbroken that [I’m] unable to be there with you all,” she wrote, in part. “We sincerely tried everything we could and [I] apologize from the bottom of my heart.”
