EXCLUSIVE: Marty Schousboe (Joe Pera Talks with You) has set the cast for Never Change!, his recently announced comedy for Hulu and American High, based on a story he developed with John Reynolds (Search Party).

After penning the script, Reynolds will star alongside Sofia Black-D’Elia (Single Drunk Female), Carmen Christopher (The Bear), Jo Firestone (The Singles Retreat), and Gary Richardson (Saturday Night Live).

Currently shooting in Syracuse, NY, utilizing American High’s campus there and nearby locations, Never Change! follows the 2005 graduating class of North Meadows High School, whose senior year was cut short after a disastrous tornado destroyed half the campus. Now in their mid-30s, the former classmates are being forced to return home and finish high school once and for all. Old flames, second chances, and buried secrets collide in what promises to be a comedic nightmare.

Black-D’Elia plays Katie Cartwright, with Christopher as Tedi Mayo, Firestone as Amelia Nadler, Reynolds as Sunny Football, and Richardson as Curtis Eldridge.

Jon Watts is producing for Freshman Year, alongside Nicholas Hatton and Jason Woliner for Swindle, Jeremy Garelick and Will Phelps for American High, Billy Rosenberg for All Things Comedy, and Jason Zaro. Molle Debartolo serves as executive producer for American High, with Axelle Azoulay co-producing and Matt Sacca associate producing for the company.

Best known for starring in Freeform’s Single Drunk Female, Black-D’Elia’s other credits include HBO’s The Night Of, Showtime’s Your Honor, and Fox’s The Mick, as well as films To All the Boys: Always and Forever and Good Burger 2. She is repped by CAA and Brookside Artist Management.

Recently seen on the FX series The Bear and English Teacher, Christopher’s film credits include A24’s Friendship alongside Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd, as well as Chelsea Peretti’s First Time Female Director. He is repped by UTA, Rise Management, and Felker Toczek Suddleson.

Firestone, known for her roles in Joe Pera Talks with You and Shrill, has also served as head writer on CBS’s After Midnight and Showtime’s Ziwe. She is repped by Gersh.

A five-time Emmy nominee Richardson can currently be seen alongside Tim Robinson on HBO’s The Chair Company, where he’s a co-EP, having previously appeared and written on Robinson’s Netflix series I Think You Should Leave. He wrote on HBO’s High Maintenance, was a longtime writer on Saturday Night Live, and also exec produced and wrote on HBO Max’s That Damn Michael Che.
