While the Athletics missed the postseason for the fifth-straight season, there is some good to be had. They finished with their best record since 2021, and their young players are starting to make a name for themselves.

Brent Rooker, Jacob Wilson, and Nick Kurtz all had strong seasons, and Kurtz could be on his way to winning the AL Rookie of the Year Award. The foundation is set; they just need to add some key names to push them over the hump.
Do not expect this club to make moves that catch everyone’s attention. However, they could be smart about their approach and target players that could give them a boost while not breaking the bank.

The Athletics come into the offseason not at risk of losing much. They have Sean Newcomb, Jose Leclerc, and Scott McGough on the open market.

Former MLB GM Jim Bowden believes the club will focus on bolstering its infield. He also believes focusing on their starting rotation will be something else the front office turns its attention to.
“The Athletics are focused on improving at second and third base, looking at both external and internal options. In my opinion, they also need to improve their pitching staff, as they ranked 27th in team ERA last year.”
Again, do not expect any earth-shattering moves here, but they could make some sneaky upgrades. Someone like Isiah Kiner-Falefa or Yoan Moncada could be an option for the infield.
On the pitching side, Tyler Anderson is someone who sticks out. He is a free agent and would not cost much while still being considered a frontline starter behind Luis Severino.
