A second person has been arrested in connection to the death of a Hinds County sheriff’s sergeant.The Jackson Police Department announced late Wednesday that Mercedes Guise has been taken into custody. She is charged with hindering prosecution and accessory after the fact.Earlier Wednesday, multiple law enforcement agencies captured 26-year-old Ladarien Tyrese Jones in Vicksburg. Jones is accused of shooting and killing Hinds County Detention Sgt. James Dotson Jr. Sunday night at his home on Dorgan Street.Investigators said Dotson was found on his living room floor, shot multiple times. He was off duty at the time.Jones is charged with murder and auto theft. Police said he stole Dotson’s gray Dodge Challenger, which was recovered Tuesday in the parking lot of a north Jackson apartment complex.
