It has been an impressive year for American WTA players, but they have not all found success in 2025.
Madison Keys won the Australian Open earlier this year after beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the final.
Sabalenka was in another final at the next major tournament, but was once again beaten as Coco Gauff won Roland Garros.
Both Gauff, Keys, as well as two other American players have qualified for the year-end WTA Finals in 2025, but another of their compatriots has continued to struggle at lower-level tournaments.

Alycia Parks has been ranked as high as world number 40, which she achieved in 2023, the same year that she won her only WTA title at the Lyon Open.
However, the American struggled to continue the same form after winning her maiden tournament, and Parks subsequently fell outside the top 150 as a result.
Parks then decided to drop down to play more lower-level WTA 125 tournaments, where she won three titles last year.
This enabled her to climb back into the top 100, and Parks has even been ranked as high as world number 46 in 2025.
However, the 24-year-old has only won 19 of her 49 matches all year, which includes Parks going on a 10-match losing streak recently.
Parks was able to end this losing run at her penultimate tournament in Jiujang, where she reached the quarterfinals, but she has suffered another disappointing defeat.
After dropping back down to WTA 125 tournaments, second seed Parks lost in the first round of the event in Austin, Texas, to world number 461 Malaika Rapolu, 7-5 6-4.
This is Parks’ second lowest ranked defeat of the year, and her worst in terms of ranking since January.

The big goal Alycia Parks said she had just two years ago
After enjoying her breakout season in 2023, many people had big hopes for the big-serving Parks.
Parks also appeared to have a lot of belief in herself, and in a fan question and answer ahead of the 2024 season she revealed that she was targeting the top 10 in the WTA rankings and a Grand Slam title.
This has been far from the case for Parks, who is currently the world number 61 and has never surpassed the third round of a major tournament before.
Due to her success on the WTA 125 circuit in the latter stages of the 2024 season, Parks still has 250 ranking points to defend this year, which would currently see her fall to world number 97.
Parks does still have tournaments on her schedule this year, as she is entered into clay court events in South America.
