TURNING NOW TO SOME BREAKING NEWS HAPPENING IN THE EAST LIBERTY FIRE CREWS ARE ON THE ROOF OF A BUILDING ON SAINT CLAIR STREET, WHERE THE WHOLE FOODS IS SKY 4 IS THERE? SAM, WHAT ARE YOU SEEING? I’M SEEING A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF SMOKE. MICHELLE. HERE AGAIN, YOU MENTIONED SAINT CLAIR STREET. IT’S RIGHT AT THE INTERSECTION WITH PENN AVENUE. THERE ARE CREWS SURROUNDING THIS BUILDING DOWN BELOW. SO YOU’RE GOING TO DEAL WITH RESTRICTIONS THERE. BUT A LOT OF SMOKE ON TOP OF THE BUILDING. WHEN WE FIRST ARRIVED, WE COULD SEE IN THE TOP TWO STORIES REALLY SMOKE FILLED. NOW THEY’VE OPENED THE DOORS ON THOSE TOP TWO STORIES TO TRY AND VENTILATE SOME OF THAT SMOKE OUT OF THERE. YOU CAN SEE CREWS WORKING AND CUTTING HOLES INTO THAT ROOF, GETTING SOME OF THAT SMOKE. OBVIOUSLY THIS INVOLVES A HEATING OR AIR CONDITIONING UNIT ON THE ROOF. FIRE CREWS REMAIN ON THE SCENE AND YOU DEAL WITH RESTRICTIONS ON PENN AVENUE AT SAINT CLAIR, AND FOR A COUPLE OF BLOCKS IN EITHER DIRECTION. THERE ARE A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT

Fire crews were called to the Whole Foods Building in East Liberty on Thursday morning.

At around 6:45 a.m., Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 observed crews on the roof of the building, tackling what appeared to be a fire in a heating or air conditioning unit.

The building is at the intersection of St. Clair Street and Penn Avenue.

No injuries had been reported.
