Manchester United cult hero Darren Fletcher was able to experience a special moment at Old Trafford after he temporarily ‘stepped in’ for one role at the club.
The former Manchester United technical director has found himself playing a key role behind the scenes at the Red Devils with the Premier League club’s academy set-up.
Darren Fletcher was named the Manchester United Under-18s head coach in July after Adam Lawrence left the managerial role at the end of the 2024-25 season.

The 41-year-old Scottish midfielder is all too familiar with the United youth academy, having come through the ranks of the youth set-up in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Fletcher would later break into the United first team under iconic former manager Sir Alex Ferguson and he enjoyed a successful period at Old Trafford as a player.
During his time under Sir Alex Ferguson, the former Scotland international lifted five Premier League titles, a Champions League, an FA Cup and a League Cup.

Travis Binnion is the Manchester United Under-21s manager and Darren Fletcher has been standing alongside him on the touchline for the last two matches for his side.
Alan Wright is an assistant to Travis Binnion with a select age range of the United academy talent, but the Red Devils figure has been absent from Old Trafford.
According to The Daily Mail, Alan Wright received ‘some time away’ from United to ‘deal with a personal issue’ and Fletcher has since stepped up for the Under-21s.

He was assisted both times by his twin brother, Tyler.

The newspaper reported that United Under-21s’ Premier League 2 match against Blackburn Under-21s handed Fletcher a ‘rare opportunity’ at Old Trafford.
United U18s manager Fletcher was able to cross paths and ‘coach’ Manchester-born midfielder Tyler Fletcher, who is currently part of the Red Devils’ academy set-up.

Tyler Fletcher started his career at Manchester City before he arrived at the Red Devils in 2023, with his twin brother also part of the United youth academy.
Jack Fletcher, much like his brother, is a midfielder for United and also began his youth career at Manchester City before he made the switch to Old Trafford.

The Daily Mail reports the 18-year-old midfielder did not feature against Blackburn Under-21s due to an injury that he suffered in training with the United first team.
However, Jack Fletcher was spotted in the stands while his father coached his twin brother in United Under-21s’ 4-0 defeat at the Progress With Unity Stadium.
