Fox News host Sean Hannity expressed dismay that Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor of New York City on Tuesday, saying his friends in the city are saying they are “scared” and “depressed” by the race’s result.

“And I honestly feel bad,” Hannity said during the network’s election night coverage after Fox called the race for Mamdani. “I have friends of mine in New York. My phone is blowing up. They are officially depressed and scared. … A full 9 percent of people say that they will leave if he in fact got elected. Before today, they said if he got elected, they are gonna leave New York City.”

Hannity’s comments were first highlighted by Mediaite.

Hannity, who recently moved from New York to Florida, spent hours on his nightly prime-time show attacking the progressive activist and warning his socialist agenda would ruin life in America’s largest city.

Mamdani won election Tuesday by turning out a record number of young and independent voters, promising sweeping changes to city services and a new era of leadership in the Democratic Party.

President Trump, a close friend and ally of Hannity, endorsed Mamdani’s opponent Andrew Cuomo — a Democrat running as an independent — while Democrats picked up key wins in several other states, notably New Jersey and Virginia.
