A cherished swan who once called Manzanita Lake on the University of Nevada, Reno campus home died in March of natural cases, according to a comprehensive necropsy conducted by the Necropsy Services Group in Davis, California. The necropsy found no signs of trauma.
Despite the necropsy’s findings, reports on social media have suggested that a member of Nevada’s Greek life may have been involved in Zeus’s death. In response, the university stated, “The University of Nevada, Reno is taking the reports surrounding the death of Zeus very seriously and there is currently an open investigation into the issue.”
Zeus was known for his striking white feathers and gentle demeanor. The bird provided a sense of tranquility to students, faculty, staff, and community members alike.
