In October, around 25,000 Russian soldiers were confirmed killed on video, with an additional 2,000–3,000 estimated casualties not captured on camera—the highest monthly toll since the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during a meeting with press on November 7.

Most of the losses occurred on the Pokrovsk front, where Russian forces launched 220 assaults in recent days, using heavy equipment.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian forces have confirmed 314 Russian troops inside the city, though the total enemy grouping in the area is significantly larger.

Pokrovsk, a key logistical hub often called the “gateway to Donetsk,” has become the epicenter of intense battles involving heavy armor, drones, and relentless artillery strikes. Ukrainian defenders are holding their positions despite Russian claims of mass encirclements, according to Zelenskyy. Analysts say Moscow’s push to capture Pokrovsk aims to break Ukraine’s eastern defenses and secure a major symbolic and strategic victory after months of stalled advances.

Previously, Ukrainian military intelligence (HUR) stated that it continues its operation in the critical logistics area of Pokrovsk, with intense fighting ongoing against Russian forces, HUR wrote in a Telegram post on November 4. The operation, led by the “Timur Special Unit,” is focused on defending key supply lines.
