Samuel Ersson practiced Friday with a smaller group a day after being activated off injured reserve.
The 26-year-old goaltender was able to back up Dan Vladar for the Flyers’ 3-1 win Thursday night over the Predators. Vladar played both games on the Flyers’ 2-0-0 road trip. Tuesday’s win went to a shootout, while Thursday’s win required a busy effort from Vladar.
Ersson’s workload in practice was clearly monitored, a potential sign that the Flyers didn’t want to overwork him before a 1 p.m. ET start Saturday. The Flyers host the Senators on NBCSP. We’ll see if Ersson gets the net for the first time in a week and a half.
“Ersson’s going to practice today, get some shots, a few guys will go on today, and then we’ll make a decision for him if he can play tomorrow,” Rick Tocchet said Friday. “He seems healthy, but we’ll see, they’ll take a look after practice.”

Sounds like he’ll be an option to start Saturday. Rick Tocchet said Flyers will see how he does in practice and make a decision from there. pic.twitter.com/gHDkPYKZM6

Tyson Foerster skated in a T-shirt and shorts as he tested out his lower-body injury under the watch of head athletic trainer Tommy Alva.
The 23-year-old winger was placed on injured reserve Monday, a stint retroactive to last Saturday, when he had a painful blocked shot.
The earliest Foerster can return is Wednesday when the Flyers host the Oilers (7:30 p.m. ET/NBCSP).
The Flyers on Friday called up Carl Grundstrom, a winger they acquired in the Ryan Ellis trade. The club had just 12 healthy forwards on its roster, so we’ll see if Grundstrom is needed Saturday or will serve as an extra.

The Flyers will try to build off their two wins on the road. The victories weren’t perfect, but they were a good response to a poor back-to-back set at home last weekend.
“An identity is to have resiliency,” Tocchet said. “You’re not going to have your A game; can you win on your B game or your C game? That takes resolve and I saw that on this trip.”
