Chappell Roan is known for her curly red locks, but on Friday, she debuted a major hair transformation, kissing her signature color goodbye. Appearing as part of a livestream announcement of the 2026 Grammy nominees, the singer, who received two nods herself, sported darker brunette tresses.

Still done in her typical curls, Roan paired the new ‘do with a sleeveless graphic top and a full face of glam, which consisted of gold, blue, and green eyeshadow, a powdered complexion, and rosy blush.

Roan sported a similar hair transformation during her New York City concerts in September.

Fan videos captured Roan on stage with butt-length, mahogany-hued coils. In one TikTok, Roan sings her hit song “The Subway” while a red leather ruffled thong bodysuit with a plunging keyhole cutout. In another video, Roan complemented her new hair color with a snakeskin bra and underwear set, along with a matching collar and wrist cuffs.

“I’m loving the brown hair,” the fan wrote over the clip.

In May, Roan also attended Rabanne’s fall fashion show with long brown hair. But at least for now, it appears that Roan’s scarlet shade got away.

The Grammy-winning performer has become known for her vibrant costumes and glam. Earlier this year, Roan released a video for “The Subway,” in which she has Rapunzel-length hair that dangles from a balcony and gets caught in a taxi door. Roan’s stylist, Lacy Redway, opened up about working on the music video in an Instagram post.

“Very rare that I get the opportunity to collaborate with other hairstylist on a project,” she wrote. “What a beautiful labor of love doing this music video with @charlielemindu and @johnnovotny.”
