Raleigh police are trying to find the suspects who broke into multiple cars at an apartment complex near Sunnybrook Road Monday morning.
Residents at the Pines of Ashton Apartment Homes off Holston Lane reported seeing people break into several cars in the parking lots.
Raleigh Police told WRAL News the suspects ran away from the scene before officers showed up around 3 a.m.
Officers are doing security checkpoints throughout the city to find the people involved.
The WRAL Breaking News Tracker captured video of at least five of the vehicles broken into. There were shattered windows and back windshields. Two of the vehicles appeared to be work vans with equipment inside.
Officers were looking for any other damaged vehicles as of 3:30 Monday morning.
