Police: 3 injured, driver arrested after car crashes into Springfield Township home
WEEK, CHRIS. ALL RIGHT, ALISON, THANK YOU SO MUCH. WELL, A GRANDMOTHER AND HER GRANDCHILD ARE IN THE HOSPITAL AFTER A MAN DROVE INTO THEIR HOME IN SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP. WLWT NEWS FIVE’S RACHEL WHELAN IS LIVE AT THE SCENE. SHE’S BEEN TALKING TO THE FAMILY AND ALSO NEIGHBORS ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED HERE. RACHEL. HEY, GUYS. WELL, THE DAMAGE IS PRETTY SIGNIFICANT. TAKE A LOOK. ALMOST THE ENTIRE SIDE OF THIS BLUE HOUSE IS BOARDED UP. AND I’M TOLD RIGHT WHERE THIS HAPPENED IS WHERE THE FAMILY’S LIVING ROOM IS. NEIGHBORS SAY THAT TRUCK CAME BARRELING DOWN THE STREET WITH NO SIGNS OF SLOWING DOWN. TAKE A LOOK AT THE SECURITY VIDEO THAT SHOWS JUST HOW FAST THAT TRUCK WAS GOING BEFORE IT PLOWED THROUGH THE FRONT YARD AND STRAIGHT INTO THE HOUSE. INSIDE, WE’RE TOLD A GRANDMOTHER WAS PINNED UNDER A COUCH. SHE AND HER INFANT GRANDCHILD WERE RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL. THE DRIVER, 33 YEAR OLD SHANEE HENRY, WAS ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH TWO COUNTS OF AGGRAVATED VEHICULAR ASSAULT. NEIGHBORS TELLING US, ONE NEIGHBOR TELLING US HE ACTUALLY TRIED TO TAKE OFF, BUT THE NEIGHBOR GRABBED HIS KEYS BEFORE HE COULD GET AWAY. THEY ALSO BELIEVE THAT HE MAY HAVE BEEN UNDER THE INFLUENCE. HERE’S HOW ONE NEIGHBOR DESCRIBED THE CHAOTIC MOMENTS AFTER THE CRASH. I JUST HEARD, LIKE A BIG BOOM, AND I JUST SEE THE CAR THROUGH THE THE HOUSE AND I’M LIKE, WHAT’S GOING ON? BUT I WAS TRYING TO MAKE SURE THE CAR RIGHT HERE WAS OKAY BECAUSE THIS IS OUR CAR. SO I DIDN’T WANT OUR CAR TO BE MESSED UP. AND THEN THE HOUSE MESSED UP TOO. THAT’S JUST A NO GO. SO I’M TRYING TO MAKE SURE EVERYBODY OKAY AND STUFF BECAUSE IT WAS LIKE IT WAS SO CRAZY, LIKE SHOCKING. AND AS WE ALL KNOW, IT WAS ALSO A SNOW DAY. THE NEIGHBORS TELLING US THEY’RE JUST THANKFUL THAT NO CHILDREN WERE OUTSIDE PLAYING IN THE FRONT YARD WHEN THIS HAPPENED. AT TWO IN THE AFTERNOON, POLICE ARE STILL INVESTIGATING, AND WE ARE WORKING TO FIND OUT HOW THE GRANDMOTHER AND THAT BABY ARE DOING. IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION, YOU’RE ASKED TO CALL SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP POLICE. I’M REPORTING IN SPRINGFIELD TOWNSH
