Sally Kirkland, the iconic actress and Golden Globe winner for 1987′ “Anna,” has been hospitalized in southern California.
Kirkland’s rep, Michael Greene told TMZ she is in hospice at a hospital in Palm Springs after being diagnosed with dementia.
According to the report, her friend and former student Cody Galloway is with her.
A GoFundMe started by friends states Kirkland had been struggling with “life-threatening infections.” The page was started to raise funds for her “urgent medical care” needs.
“She had a fall in the shower, when she was left unattended; injuring her ribs, foot, along with cuts and bruises,” the page states.
Kirkland, 84, was nominated for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe for her role in the 1987 comedy-drama “Anna.”
She was also known for her roles in “JFK,” “Bruce Almighty.
Kirkland’s career spans six decades and her credits includes appearances include “Private Benjamin,” “The Sting,” “Bruce Almighty,” “EDtv,” “Best of The Best,” “The Haunted,” “JFK,” “A Brave New World,” “Roseanne,” “80 for Brady,” “Anna,” and more.
