Code your way through that first night

You know how it goes (or maybe you don’t): you’ve spawned in a lush, chilly, sandy, or perhaps watery biome that feels rather nice and cozy. At least until the sun begins to give up and you feel a rising worry as you hear a rustle coming from the trees. Then – a shadow in the distance, creeping up on you until it’s not as distant anymore!

Yeah, well, no more! Because in The First Night, you’ll have your very own, trusty AI agent (you can call it whatever you want – I’m calling mine Mom Ultra Core Bot).

Through MakeCode programming in Minecraft Education (did you hear that? You can try coding in Minecraft!), you’ll get to teach your Agent to recognize patterns, classify resources, and coordinate “mini agent” helpers. The Agent’s behavior is similar to a real AI, as it learns from examples, and sometimes makes mistakes that require human correction (you must teach it which material is wood, or your first night shelter might not be… optimal).

But as your AI agent learns, it’ll go from “tool” to “partner” as it helps you plan, prototype, and automate the essentials needed for getting through your night, so you don’t become zombie chow!

Hopefully, training your AI Agent will help you become more of a calm, creative engineer, instead of learning about Minecraft the hard way: the classic panicky, frantic, desperate fight for survival that we’ve seen so many times.
