The second season of “The Golden Bachelor” has come to an end, with lead Mel Owens kneeling on one knee and asking Peg Munson to marry him.

Season 2 of “The Golden Bachelor” began with 23 women looking to find a soulmate in their golden years and hoping that it was Mel, a 66-year-old former NFL player who now works as a lawyer.

By the time the finale arrived on Wednesday, Nov. 12, only two women remained: Peg, a 62-year-old retired firefighter and bomb tech, and Cindy Angelcyk Cullers, a 60-year-old retired biomedical engineer.

Here’s what happened in the finale and if Mel and his winner are still together now.

What happened in the ‘Golden Bachelor’ Season 2 finale?

The episode started with a shocker: Cindy decided to self-eliminate, realizing that Mel couldn’t match her feelings. She had repeatedly expressed throughout the journey how much she had fallen for Mel.

After leaving, Cindy wept alone and said she thought Mel was her match. “I was so hopeful,” she said. “It hurts really bad.”

Mel, meanwhile, said that he was “shocked” by Cindy’s departure. “I came into tonight thinking there was a future, but she quit,” he said.

During the “After the Final Rose” event, Cindy said she didn’t feel like she should have to “convince a man to love her,” to applause from the audience.

Mel then spoke to Peg the next day and explained that he wasn’t ready to “commit” to a proposal. That, she said, made her nervous, but she moved forward with meeting Mel’s two sons and his college friend. The meeting went well, with consensus across the board that they were a good match.

Mel ultimately proposed to Peg. “I trusted you. You trusted me. You told me you had confidence in me that I’d make the right choice — and here you are,” he said, before showing a ring.

They committed to figuring out a future together.

Are Mel and Peg still together now?

Mel and Peg emerged at the “After the Final Rose” special all smiles. With a kiss, they confirmed they are, in fact, still together.

“It’s exciting,” Peg said. “We get to be out and we get to share this.”

Peg said the connection “grew” after their time in Antigua, especially during the privacy of the Fantasy Suites.

“One thing I can say about Mel: He doesn’t have integrity. He is integrity. Let that sink in. That’s one thing I love about him,” she said.

Mel said the relationship has progressed “very, very well” since the show ended. They both said they are in love with each other.

“It worked!” host Jesse Palmer said.
