A major recall has been issued for nearly 1 million bottles of prosecco sold at Costco that pose a laceration hazard.
On Nov. 6, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of certain Ethica Wines’ Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG glass bottles.
The company has received ten reports of the bottles shattering or breaking, resulting in one laceration injury.
In a statement, the federal agency said the recall affects about 941,400 bottles and can be recognized by its green bottle with purple foil and a purple label. The prosecco bottles UPC is 196633883742 and the Costco Item Number is 1879870.
The recalled bottles were sold for around $8 between April and August 2025 at Costco stores in 12 states:

The affected prosecco was also available for sale online.
The CPSC urged consumers to immediately stop using the recalled bottles and not attempt to open them. The bottles should be discarded and customers should contact Ethica Wines for instructions on how to receive a full refund from Costco.
