SHAKTOOLIK, Alaska (KTUU) – A Shaktoolik man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison on charges of sexually exploiting three children to produce child pornography and cyberstalking the children, as well as one adult, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Court documents claim 23-year-old Matthew Jackson engaged in a pattern of sexual abuse and exploitation with multiple female victims, three of whom were minors, from December 2021 to July 2023. Following his 30-year prison sentence, he will serve 30 years on supervised release.
According to the DOJ, Jackson sent messages to the three minors asking them to create sexually explicit pictures and videos. He then threatened to disclose those images to coerce sexual contact with them. He would also film these encounters without consent, the department said.
Jackson also engaged in similar conduct with an adult victim, saying he could make money from the images they sent him and threatened to sell them if they wouldn’t have sex with him.
Once he did engage in sex with them, he filmed it without their consent and laughed when they expressed “suicidal ideation,” according to the DOJ.
Jackson was initially arrested on Nov. 26, 2024 and is charged with three counts of cyberstalking and three counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
“Jackson has a history of violent assaults and engaged in despicable conduct against multiple vulnerable victims,” said U.S. Attorney Michael J. Heyman. “His life of terrorizing Alaskans stops now.”
