Angel Reese Shooting New Form Shoot© Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images

Angel Reese might’ve figure out how to shoot! Her form looks so much better today than even just two months ago.

She has worked closely with one of the best trainers in basketball since the end of last season.

Although Reese is already one of the best players in the WNBA in terms of numbers, the tape tells a very different story than the stats. The 23-year-old may finally be considered a legitimate scorer if she can stay as consistent during games as she is against air.

Angel Reese is a rebounding mebounding machine.

Drafted with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Chicago Sky, no player in women’s basketball history has recorded more double-doubles during her fist two seasons a pro than Reese.

There is no way to deny her greatness on the board. She is a dominant post player who averaged 14.1 points and 12.9 rebounds per game in 2024 and 2025.

However, the 6-foot-3 forward shot less than 40% from the field as a rookie, 45% as a sophomore and less than 30% from three in both years. All of her accomplishments are overshadowed by her poor shooting. The term “mebound” came to exist because Reese would often secure two or three different rebounds on the same possession from her own missed shots.

Her layups are one thing. Her mid-range game is another. The latter is practically nonexistent. Or, was.

New form might help her shooting!

Angel Reese has worked closely with Iren Rainey since the end of the season. Rainey is considered one of the best basketball trainers in the business, most notably helping Aaron Gordon to reach his full potential.

Their most recent session revealed a major breakthrough. Reese’s form looks completely different.

The most notable change is that her wrists do not cross on her release — which they did as recently as late September.

Everything about the way she moves also looks a lot more fluid.

I love the chatter from Rainey in that second video. That is exactly the kind of coaching I would want and it seems like he is really getting through to one of the biggest stars in the league!
