BREAKING NEWS. BIRMINGHAM POLICE INVESTIGATING WHAT LED TO A SHOOTING TODAY THAT KILLED A WOMAN IN THE CITY’S SOUTH PARK, NEAR SOUTH PRATT NEIGHBORHOOD. THANKS FOR JOINING US AT FOUR. I’M GUY RAWLINGS AND I’M BRITTANY DECKER. THANKS FOR BEING HERE WITH US. THE SHOOTING HAPPENED A LITTLE AFTER NOON TODAY. MICHAEL HIGDON IS AT THE BREAKING NEWS DESK WITH WHAT WE KNOW AT THIS HOUR. MICHAEL. SO THIS HAPPENED IN THE 2000 BLOCK OF 10TH STREET WHEN OFFICERS GOT TO THE SCENE, THEY FOUND A WOMAN WHO WAS SHOT, AND SHE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD ON SCENE. I WANT TO SHOW YOU VIDEO FROM THE SCENE. MULTIPLE UNITS RESPONDED AND POLICE WERE SEEN TALKING TO NEIGHBORHOOD NEIGHBORS IN THE AREA. OFFICERS SAY A MAN HAD CALLED 911 AND SAID SOMEONE WAS AT HIS HOUSE AND SHOTS WERE FIRED. INVESTIGATORS SAY MULTIPLE SHOTS WERE FIRED, BUT COULDN’T CONFIRM JUST HOW MANY. RIGHT NOW, INVESTIGATORS ARE WORKING TO DETERMINE IF THE TWO PEOPLE KNEW ONE ANOTHER. IF THIS WAS SOME KIND OF DOMESTIC SITUATION OR A POSSIBLE BREAK-IN, THEY’RE STILL INVESTIGATING. POLICE ALSO SAID IT’S UNCLEAR IF THE MAN CALLED 911 BEFORE OR AFTER THE SHOOTING ITSELF, BUT HE DID REMAIN ON SCENE. THAT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THE SHOOTER DID REMAIN ON SCENE, AND HE IS IN CUSTODY, AND HE HAS BEEN TRANSPORTED TO THE POLICE HEADQUARTERS FOR QUESTIONING. WE STILL WANT TO POINT OUT THAT BPD WILL REMAIN COMMITTED TO SOLVING ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS WITHIN OUR CITY. Birmingham police are investigating a woman’s shooting death in the city’s South Pratt neighborhood Thursday.

When they arrived they found a woman who appeared to have been shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man had called 911 and said someone was at his house and shots were fired, according to police.
