Emergency units responded to a pile-up crash involving 10 vehicles and two tractor-trailers in York County on Thursday night.According to York County dispatch, a call came in just after 6:30 p.m. for a multi-vehicle crash with reported entrapment on I-83 northbound at Exit 39A: PA 114 Lewisberry Road.According to the Fairview Township Fire Department, six people were injured in the crash and transported to area hospitals. No fatal injuries were reported. While crews were on scene of the crash, a secondary crash occurred involving multiple vehicles due to a large backlog. A portion of the roadway reopened as of 10 p.m. Crews continue to clean up, and multiple vehicles were seen being towed away, as of 11:30 p.m. Not only did the crash shut down I-83, but it also caused major delays on surrounding roads.A worker at a nearby hotel said she heard what sounded like a heavy load falling off a tractor-trailer. Another man staying at the hotel said his wife heard what sounded like massive mounds of metal slamming together, and that’s when she called him. “She called me and said, do not come home 83, south or north, because there was a horrible accident in front of our house. And that’s why I said, well, we’re not, when we left his house, we had to come the back way. It took us 20 minutes to take a four-minute ride,” he said. Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the crash.
