DERBY, Vt. (WCAX) – A correction to a story we brought you earlier Friday about a bison on the loose.
The bison that escaped from a Northeast Kingdom farm did not make it back to its enclosure.
Video of the bison, which escaped from Nelson Farm in Derby, showed it wandering through a Derby neighborhood earlier this week.
Videos made the rounds on social media of the large ungulate wandering through people’s yards.
Unfortunately, game wardens told us that the farm had to euthanize the bison for safety reasons after the farm tried to get it back inside the fence, and it became aggressive.
Earlier, we reported that the bison was alive and returned safely to the farm.
Earlier Friday, we reported the bison was alive after getting a message from Derby State Representative Richard Nelson saying the bison was “all back same day”.
We regret the confusion.
