GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are assisting in diverting traffic as the South Carolina Forestry Commission battles a brush fire.
The brush fire occurred on North Fraser Street near Fair Lane Saturday afternoon.
Deputies say vehicles are being rerouted using David West Ray and Pringle Ferry Roads. Motorists are urged to proceed with caution in the area.
The area of Highway 701 is shut down because of the heavy volume of smoke obstructing the driver’s view. Georgetown County Fire & EMS are urging the public to avoid the area as crews bring the fire under control.
