IMPACT DAY

Wind advisory for the Susquehanna Valley

WE’VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT CLOSING OUT THE WEEKEND WITH SOME WINDY CONDITIONS, AND BECAUSE WIND GUSTS COULD GET AS HIGH AS 40 TO 50MPH THROUGHOUT THE DAY, TODAY, A WIND ADVISORY GOES INTO EFFECT AT 9 A.M. THIS MORNING FOR THE ENTIRE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY UNTIL MIDNIGHT TONIGHT, ALREADY SEEING SOME IMPRESSIVE WIND GUSTS, SUSTAINED WINDS RIGHT NOW AT 31MPH IN LANCASTER, 22 IN HARRISBURG, 20 IN CHAMBERSBURG. SO THEY’LL BE INCREASING TO 15 TO 25MPH OR HIGHER FOR MUCH OF THE REST OF THE DAY. WIND GUSTS ARE CLOSE TO 40MPH IN LANCASTER AND HARRISBURG, 38 IN LEBANON, 28 IN CARLISLE, 31 IN GETTYSBURG AND IN YORK. AND AS WE TAKE A LOOK AT WIND GUSTS FOR THE REST OF THE DAY, THEY’RE GOING TO BE UP THERE 40 TO 50MPH ALL THE WAY INTO THE EARLY EVENING HOURS. SO JUST BE PREPARED IF YOU HAVEN’T SECURED ANY OUTDOOR OBJECTS, YOU’VE GOT TO RUN OUT THERE AND TAKE CARE OF THINGS BECAUSE THEY WILL END UP SOMEWHERE ELSE. TEMPERATURES HAVE BEEN VERY WARM THIS MORNING IN THE UPPER 50S TO LOW 60S, ESPECIALLY IN OUR WESTERN AREAS, AND WE HAD 40 IN THE EAST. NOW WE’VE GOT 50S EVERYWHERE EXCEPT FOR ALREADY STARTING TO SEE THAT COLD AIR MAKING ITS WAY IN ON THAT NORTHWESTERLY WIND. VERY MILD. THESE WILL BE OUR HIGHS FOR THE DAY, AND THEN TEMPERATURES WILL ACTUALLY BE MUCH COOLER THIS AFTERNOON. LOOK AT THE COLDER AIR JUST TO THE NORTH AND THE WEST BEHIND THIS FRONTAL SYSTEM THAT IS MOVING THROUGH AND PUSHING OFF TO THE EAST NOW. AND THIS IS WHY OUR TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO TURN MUCH COLDER OR CHILLIER AS WE HEAD INTO THE WORKWEEK. SO YOUR NEWS EIGHT STORM TEAM FORECAST CALLS FOR THOSE TEMPERATURES TO FALL TO ABOUT 50 DEGREES AROUND 9:00. THEY MAY BUMP UP A DEGREE OR TWO HEADING INTO THE AFTERNOON, BUT THAT’S IT. A MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS AND WINDY CONDITIONS ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE EVENING AND MIDNIGHT HOURS THIS EVENING, WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW 40S AND THOSE GUSTY WINDS STILL PRETTY STRONG, IT’S GOING TO FEEL LIKE THE 30S OVERNIGHT. TONIGHT. PARTLY CLOUDY. CAN’T RULE OUT AN ISOLATED RAIN AND OR SNOW SHOWER THIS AFTERNOON AND AGAIN TONIGHT IN THE EARLY EVENING HOURS, TEMPERATURES WILL DROP INTO THE MID 30S, BUT IT’S GOING TO FEEL LIKE THE 20S. AND NOTICE THE WINDS ARE STILL GUSTING CLOSE TO 35MPH OVERNIGHT TONIGHT. TOMORROW WILL BE ANOTHER BLUSTERY DAY WITH WIND GUSTS CLOSE TO 30. SUSTAINED WINDS 15 TO 25MPH. HIGHS IN THE MID 40S, BUT FEELING LIKE THE 30S WITH PARTLY SUNNY SKIES. THAT’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO DRESS FOR A LOOK OUTSIDE. WE HAD SOME SHOWERS EARLY EARLY THIS MORNING NORTH OF HARRISBURG. NOW STARTING TO SEE THOSE CLOUDS DECREASE. THERE MAY BE A JUST A STRAY SHOWER HERE. NORTHWEST ACROSS MIFFLIN AND JUNIATA COUNTIES. AND AGAIN ANY TIME TODAY WITH THOSE STRONG NORTHWESTERLY WINDS COMING ACROSS THE WARM GREAT LAKES, WE COULD HAVE A FEW RAIN AND OR SNOW SHOWERS THAT MAKE THEIR WAY INTO NORTHWESTERN COUNTIES MIFFLIN, JUNIATA, PERRY COUNTY. AS WE HEAD INTO THE AFTERNOON, THE FRONT ALMOST PUSHING EAST OF LANCASTER. AND AS IT DOES, THOSE WINDS ARE GOING TO START TO REALLY RAMP UP AGAIN. VERY COLD, MUCH COLDER AND OUT OF THE NORTHWEST, HELPING TO DRIVE IN THAT COOLER AIR ACROSS THE AREA TODAY, MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS THIS AFTERNOON. AND THEN WE’LL SEE THE SKIES PARTIALLY CLEAR. TOMORROW WE START OFF WITH SUNSHINE. WE’LL SEE SOME CLOUDS MIXING WITH THE SUN IN THE AFTERNOON, BUT STILL BLUSTERY NOW. TOMORROW NIGHT WE’LL SEE THOSE WINDS STARTING TO RELAX AS HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS IN. SO TUESDAY IS A DIFFERENT STORY. IT’S GOING TO BE MUCH LIGHTER IN TERMS OF THOSE WINDS. WE’LL SEE INCREASING CLOUDS AND A SYSTEM DIVING BY TO OUR SOUTH COULD CLIP US WITH A FEW SHOWERS IN THE EVENING HOURS. HIGH TEMPERATURES. LOOK AT THIS. WE’RE BELOW AVERAGE. WELL, RIGHT NOW WE’RE ABOVE AVERAGE. BUT THIS AFTERNOON BELOW AVERAGE. AND THEN WE CONTINUE BELOW AVERAGE IN THE 40S ALL THE WAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY. THURSDAY UP AROUND 50. AND THEN WE HEAD ABOVE AVERAGE AS WE GET INTO FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. YOUR TEN DAY FORECAST SHOWS AGAIN, A COUPLE SHOWER
