Benjamin Sesko suffered a knee injury in Manchester United’s draw against Tottenham and the severity of his setback has now been confirmed.

In the 2-2 draw against Tottenham, Ruben Amorim’s side fell to 10 men in the final minutes because Benjamin Sesko hobbled off with a knee injury after all five substitutions had been made.

Amorim was immediately worried about Sesko after he went down holding his knee, and it has now been confirmed by Sky Sports that the Slovenian is set to be out of action for one month at most.

Given that United are entering a busy winter fixture list, the timing of Sesko’s injury is unfortunate, and it means the Red Devils will have to cope without their star striker.

United have been fairly fortunate with injuries so far this season, partially down to good management from Amorim.

However, the attacking department could become strained over the next month with Sesko set for a spell on the sidelines.

United resume their Premier League campaign on Monday as they welcome Everton to Old Trafford. That is the first of five matches over the next month which Sesko is likely to miss.

Assuming that Sesko will be back available in exactly a month, he can hope to make his return against Aston Villa on December 21st. If he is still not fit by then, Newcastle United travel to Old Trafford on Boxing Day.

Who could replace Benjamin Sesko at Man Utd

Sesko was signed for £66m this summer to become the new first-choice striker at Old Trafford. His absence will be felt over the next month.

United are ready to block an exit for Joshua Zirkzee in January in order to maintain squad depth, and the Dutch forward is the most obvious choice to step up in Sesko’s absence.

Matheus Cunha has played centrally at times this season, especially in games where Amorim wants a mobile and flexible front three. If the Brazilian does become United’s regular centre-forward, that will be music to the ears of Mason Mount who can expect more minutes at No.10.

If Amorim wants to put his faith in United’s youth, he could trust academy star Chido Obi to step up. Obi made his Premier League debut last season just months after joining from Arsenal.
