A man is dead and another person was taken to the hospital after a serious crash involving two dump trucks and a pickup truck near Union, Kentucky, on Monday.The crash happened around 1 p.m., on U.S. 42 near Bleu Yacht Lane, just south of Union.The crash involved two dump trucks and a Chevrolet Silverado.The driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office identified that person as Hermon Lewis Estes, 75.His granddaughter, Anastasia Jonas speaking said Hermon was born and raised in Northern Kentucky, and is a beloved grandfather and businessman.”He was a family man, so sweet, so loving and caring,” said Jonas, “I just really miss him right now.”One of the dump truck drivers was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The other dump truck driver refused medical treatment. According to officials, the driver of the pickup truck was traveling on US 42 when he slowed to a stop for unknown reasons. The driver of the dump truck was unable to stop, but attempted to avoid the collision. The dump truck ultimately crashed into the back of the pickup truck, sending the Chevrolet into another lane, where another dump truck was traveling south and collided with the Chevrolet. The road was closed for hours but reopened around 6:30 p.m.
