CASPER, Wyo. — Banner Wyoming Medical Center announced on Tuesday that it has plans to reopen its East Campus in January 2026 as a specialty hospital with a primary focus on orthopedic services. This will mark a significant expansion in surgical care options for the community of Casper and the surrounding region.

“The reopening of our East Campus represents our continued commitment to providing exceptional, specialized care to the communities we serve,” said Lance Porter, chief executive officer of Wyoming Medical Center. “This facility will offer patients a comprehensive, convenient experience where all aspects of their orthopedic care can be managed in one location.”

According to a release from Banner, the East Campus has undergone extensive renovations in recent months in preparation for its new role as “a dedicated specialty hospital.” The release notes that all four operating rooms have been upgraded, including new flooring and cutting-edge equipment. It will be the first hospital in Wyoming and the eighth in the world to implement the latest generation of Stryker surgical lighting systems, which resolve many common lighting challenges. This will ensure optimal surgical conditions for both patients and medical teams.

Additionally, the operating rooms will feature new Stryker surgical tables and a fully integrated viewing system that provides increased surgeon flexibility. This will allow medical teams to display any image on any monitor, enhancing precision and efficiency during procedures.

The first surgical case at the reopened East Campus is expected in early 2026.

The release states that total joint replacement is one of the most common elective procedures in America. Banner has also purchased a ROSA Knee System, which will be housed in the East Campus. Beginning early next year, Casper Orthopedics’ surgeons will have access to the latest robotic technology to help surgeons create personalized procedures for their patients.

“The surgeons at Casper Orthopedics are thrilled to have a newly renovated, state-of-the-art facility focused on orthopedic care in the community,” said Daniel White, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Casper Orthopedics and Banner Wyoming Medical Center. “The advanced technology in a facility dedicated to musculoskeletal care and a focus on exceptional patient experience will allow our surgeons to personalize the care and enhance the outcomes of our patients.”

All necessary services, including blood work and imaging, will be completed on site at the East Campus. This eliminates the need for patients to travel between multiple locations. The facility will also feature a complete laboratory and will maintain blood products, ensuring immediate access to important resources.

“Patient safety remains the top priority, with all East Campus staff receiving the same rigorous training as their counterparts at the main Central Campus,” the release states. “This standardized approach ensures the highest level of safety and quality care across all Wyoming Medical Center locations.”

The East Campus will include:

Four fully renovated operating rooms with advanced surgical technology

37 inpatient beds for postoperative care and recovery

Complete laboratory services and blood products

Full imaging capabilities

A sleep lab

A primary care and walk-in clinic

The campus will also house Banner’s partners, including Casper Medical Imaging and Outpatient Radiology, as well as Precision Surgical, which creates a medical hub for the region.

Banner has invested $6 million into this project.

On Thursday, Nov. 20, Banner Wyoming Medical Center is inviting the community to a Casper Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event from 5 to 7 p.m.

“Everyone is invited and encouraged to register on the Casper Area Chamber of Commerce website,” the release states. “Attendees can discover their health care options at the East Campus while enjoying guided tours, hors d’oeuvres and beverages. See firsthand how Banner Health continues to advance health care in our community.”
