A man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being shot in the abdomen in East McKeesport Tuesday night. Allegheny County police confirmed to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that they were on the scene within the 500 block of Woodmont Avenue following reports of shots being fired. The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. When police arrived on the scene, they said an adult man was found with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Detectives said all individuals involved in the shooting have been identified. “A short time later, an individual called 911 stating that he was involved. That individual is currently detained. There is no threat to the community,” Lt. Venerando Costa with ACPD told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4.At last check, Costa said the victim was in surgery. Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 spoke to a resident who lives nearby and heard the shooting from her home. “I heard maybe three or four shots, sounded very close and then we just saw the police and everything outside,” said neighbor Paula Gilmer. “It was scary. I wanted to keep my doors locked.” Officials said anyone who has additional information on the shooting is urged to call the County Police Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
