Wasn’t she just complaining about how mean people are to her online?
Barstool Sports personality Brianna Chickenfry has been in the spotlight quite a bit since her high-profile relationship, and explosive breakup, with country superstar Zach Bryan. While she’s spoken extensively about the abuse she said she endured during the relationship, and of course the $12 million she was reportedly offered to sign an NDA after they split, Brianna has also talked about the hate she’s received from being a public figure, especially in the wake of her breakup:
“People are always s–tty, but I knew that. I knew there was going to be s–tty people when I came forward. That’s why it was so scary coming forward, because of his fans.”
Of course one of those people who she’s called out for his comments on her has been her own coworker, Kirk Minihane.
If you’re not familiar with Minihane, he’s a controversial figure for being outspoken and not really caring what he says or who he offends. And after Chickenfry began speaking about her breakup, Minihane (like everybody else at Barstool), gave his thoughts – which she didn’t like, because he didn’t take her side.
The feud between Minihane and Chickenfry has resulted in an ongoing back and forth between the two, with Chickenfry claiming that she “hates” podcasters and calling out Minihane (while on a podcast), and Minihane accusing Chickenfry of beating a dead horse for continuing to talk about Zach Bryan.
At one point, Chickenfry even called Barstool Sports “misogynistic” after comments from Minihane, apparently implying that he was singling her out because she’s a woman.
Now, to be clear, being a jerk is kind of his thing. He doesn’t really care who he goes after, and you either love him or hate him for it.
As his boss, Barstool Sports CEO Dave Portnoy put it:
“You don’t care male, female, you’ll go after anybody.”
The conflict even resulted in Minihane being temporarily fired by Portnoy at one point, after Chickenfry apparently complained about Minihane attacking her, though it didn’t last long (about four minutes).
So yeah, all that to say, these two don’t like each other.
Well over the weekend, Minhane announced that he was stepping away from his show due to mental health struggles:
I’m taking some time off from the show – it’s been a really tough last few months and I need to step away. About as low as I can remember, but I’ll be OK. No idea when I’ll be back. As always, it’s OK to ask for help when you need it, and you’re not alone.

And he even acknowledged that there would be people who were happy to see him struggling because of how many feathers he’s ruffled over the years:
Last thing and I’m gone for a while: There will be people gloating over this, and that’s plenty fair. I make fun of everyone, can’t expect to be treated any different. The tweet below isn’t for sympathy, just an update. That’s all. https://t.co/ZsHmbxQilM

Well sure enough, one of those who seemed to take joy in his mental health problems was…Brianna Chickenfry.
After the announcement was made, Chickenfry took to her Instagram story with several slides mocking Minihane, calling him a “freak loser” and laughing at him for having to take a mental health break:
She also posted another one wishing him the best while calling him an “insecure freak.”
Of course it’s a little ironic for Chickenfry, who has complained about all the hate she’s received online, to then turn around and mock somebody for their own mental health issues. She’s even accused Minihane’s listeners of stalking her and threatening her, so you would think that at the very least she would want to stay out of it if his fans are really already harassing her. But what do I know.
Either way, many spoke up for Minihane and criticized Chickenfry, including some of her own coworkers, while quite a few pointed out the irony in her comments given her sponsorship from therapy provider BetterHelp:
One small-brained theatre chick took the whole show personally and held her bratty little grudge then couldn’t help but try to hurt someone in the real world to get revenge. You’re a nasty little ghoul @BChickenfry pic.twitter.com/HWMA4T0MOy

Briana Chickenfry. Loves Hamas. Hates Kirk Minihane. Equally odd hills to die on.

Differences between Kirk Minihane & @BChickenfry
Kirk who has succeeded because of talent, will go after people at their best, their strongest & to their face.
Brianna Lapaglia is a professional victim, a coward who talks behind backs & attacks people when they’re down. A zero. pic.twitter.com/V8kCx74Iw1

Brianna LaPaglia is a wretched human being.

Having the courage to be open about mental health doesn’t make someone a loser.
Shitting on someone for being a bully while you bully them at their weakest does make you a hypocrite though. https://t.co/lOy5aypMCc

I’m just gonna say it – I think Zach Bryan dodged a bullet when he dropped Chickenfry

This morning, the producers of Kirk’s show hosted his podcast while addressing Chickenfry’s comments, criticizing her for bringing Minihane’s kids into her bullying:
“Most of the shots she’s taken at Kirk have either been veiled, where she’s alluding to something … My thing is, if she had this post a week ago or two weeks ago calling Kirk a freak loser where he’s allowed to fight back, that’s fine. She knows he’s stepping away and he’s not in a position to currently fight back or post something about it. That’s why she’s doing this…
Say it with your chest.”
Sounds like a lovely person.
