FSU more or less stood pat with how its front office is structured this past offseason.

It’s unfair to blame GM Darrick Yray as well as his department for the roster construction as Norvell also leans on his assistants as part of the evaluation process as well (and obviously huge in trying to garner interest from prospective players).

Yray and Norvell are major operators for determining prices on players and how funds are allocated. If there are deficiencies with how a roster is balanced, it ultimately falls on both of them.

It does seem clear based on results over the last two seasons that FSU isn’t maximizing its resources with how the roster is constructed. Again, there are issues here that transcend a singular person or two. But ultimately, Yray took over more responsibility after the 2023 season and the results have been lackluster at best.

Norvell needs to decide if Yray is able to optimally handle his current role or if he’ll need an infusion of help – either above of him on the org chart or below him – as well as different voices to construct a roster with more NFL-ready talent.

Is he open to this? If so, is admin willing to commit to a bolstering of resources in the front office?
