ABC viewers have expressed their surprise after David Muir shared a “hilarious” breaking news update on his World News Tonight show.
Speaking on Nov. 19, David revealed that “the Justice Department’s case against James Comey is in jeopardy,” telling his fans that Lindsey Halligan, President Trump‘s handpicked US attorney, made a shocking admission in court. Lindsey, who has never tried a criminal case before, told the judge in James Comey’s case that she did not show the full grand jury the final version of the indictment against the former FBI director.
“It shocked many in the courtroom,” David, 52, said. “James Comey and his family in court began whispering. The question now: where does this case go from here?”

Reporting, ABC’s Chief Investigative Correspondent, Aaron Katersky, told viewers that the case against Comey is now “in serious doubt after a stunning admission in court by President Trump’s handpicked prosecutor.”
Continuing, the report added, “Today, the judge put her on the spot, and she admitted she did not show the full grand jury the final version of the indictment before the foreperson signed it.”

Aaron said the disclosure “shocked the courtroom into silence,” with Comey and his family beginning to whisper among themselves and his attorney requesting the case be thrown out.
Donald Trump hired Lindsey Halligan after he removed her predecessor, Erik Siebert, for determining there wasn’t enough evidence to charge Comey with any crimes.
“Sources told ABC News [that] career prosecutors documented the conclusion in a memo,” Aaron explained, adding, “Today, when the judge asked about that memo, Halligan’s partner said Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche ordered him not to discuss it.”
James Comey has pleaded not guilty to the charges that he misled the Senate Judiciary Committee when he denied authorizing leaks to the press, telling supporters, “I have great confidence in the federal judicial system, and I’m innocent. So let’s have a trial.”

The 64-year-old was indicted days after Trump urged his Attorney General, Pam Bondi, to pursue charges against his political enemies. In a Truth Social post, the president wrote, “Justice must be served now.” However, Comey’s lawyer used that post in court, alleging that the case against his client is vindictive.
“It is effectively an admission that this is a political prosecution,” Michael Dreeben, James Comey’s attorney, said.
Despite this, prosectors insisted that Lindsey Halligan brought forward the case on her own, telling the judge, “Ms Halligan was not a puppet.”
Concluding his segment, Aaron remarked, “The judge is now weighing the actions of this prosecutor, who lacks criminal experience and who acknowledged she never showed the full grand jury the final copy of the indictment. There are more written arguments to come, but tonight, the case against James Comey seems to be hanging by a thread.”
ABC viewers were quick to react to the story, with one person writing on Instagram, “This is actually hilarious,” and another adding, “What a joke.”
“This is absolutely ridiculous,” quipped a third person, with a fourth adding, “Interesting development! This could significantly impact the DOJ’s case.”
