Crews are battling a large industrial fire in Tyler on Thursday night as residents in the area are asked to evacuate.

Smith County Emergency Services District No. 2 and Lindale Fire Department firefighters are actively working to contain the fire, which is at the intersection of Highway 64 and Toll 49 across from the Tyler Pounds Regional Airport. City of Tyler Fire Department is also on scene.

Everyone in the area of County Road 1151 is asked to immediately evacuate and contact neighbors to help them evacuate, said Nikki Simmons, spokesperson for Smith County ESD 2. Crews are expected to be on scene for quite some time.

Motorists are asked to turn around and find alternate routes of travel.

No injuries have been reported. “We are very thankful for that,” Simmons said.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 6:22 p.m.

The county fire marshal’s office will investigate this incident.
