MONTGOMERY – The Regional Food Bank is hosting the largest single-day Thanksgiving meal distribution in New York state history this Saturday. Working with community partners and over 800 volunteers, the initiative will distribute approximately 350,000 meals to an estimated 75,000 people across the 23-county service area.

The drive-thru distribution process will provide grocery bags filled with a turkey and holiday staples to families on a first-come, first-served basis with no eligibility requirements. In the Huson Valley, they will give out 115,000 turkey dinners to 25,000 people.

“When cars go up to these different sites, they’re going to receive two bags. One bag is going to have a turkey, the other is a 30-pound bag that will have all the fixings. I’m talking, stuffing, gravy, mixed vegetables, potatoes, apples, and even dessert,” said spokesman Barry Lewis.

There are six locations in the Hudson Valley where you can get a meal.

“We’re going to be in Sullivan, Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, and Rockland counties. We’re starting this at 10 in the morning.”

If you want to help out, you can go to  “RegionalFoodBank.net. There’s a link, and they’ll be able to see where they can either donate and or sign up as a volunteer,” he said.
