The Minister of Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis, met on Friday afternoon with the new US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle at the Ministry headquarters in Athens.
The two officials and their teams discussed Greece – U.S. investment issues and strategic cooperation within the broader context of further developing economic relations between the two countries, Pierrakakis said in a Facebook post accompanied by photos of the meeting.
Last week, in her first interview on Greek TV on ANT1, Kimberly Guilfoyle stressed that “Greece will become an energy hub,” explaining this is the key reason President Donald Trump selected her as Ambassador to the country.
Solid foundation of trust between Greece and U.S.
The Greek Finance Minister stated on Friday that the historical dynamics that have shaped Greek-American relations were also discussed with the new U.S. Ambassador.
Greece and the U.S., he said, share a solid foundation of trust that allows both countries to look to the future with optimism and confidence.
On Greece, Pierrakakis said the country has made a strong comeback and is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for American investment capital.
He concluded that Greece looks forward to continuing its close, strategic cooperation with the U.S., which will reinforce Greece’s role as a reliable partner and a pillar of stability in the region.
