Seven Tennessee companies were named to U.S. News & World Report’s list of best companies to work for in the United States.The top-rated Tennessee companies span various industries, including transportation, healthcare, media, and finance.Averitt, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, and HealthStream are among the top-rated companies in Tennessee.

A new ranking from U.S. News & World Report identified the best companies to work for in the United States — and seven of them are in Tennessee.

The report analyzed both privately owned and publicly traded companies based on six metrics: quality of pay and benefits, work-life balance, job stability, belonging and self esteem, professional development and physical and psychological comfort.

Here are the top companies to work for in Tennessee.

What are the best businesses in Tennessee?

According to U.S. News & World Report, seven companies in Tennessee were named to the list of best companies to work for in the United States. Of the seven companies, only two are publicly traded.

Averitt in Cookeville

Averitt is a private transportation company founded in 1958. It was rated as one of the top transportation and logistics companies. Its top metrics were stability, belongingness and safety among employees.

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee in Chattanooga

Rated as one of the top healthcare and research organizations, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is a private healthcare firm founded in 1945. BlueCross‘s top metrics were work-life balance, stability and safety.

HealthStream in Nashville

Recognized as a top healthcare and research organization, HealthStream is a publicly traded company with a market capitalization of $993.3 million. Founded in 1990, its top metrics were work-life balance, belongingness and safety among employees.

Ingram Content Group in La Vergne

Recognized as one of the top companies in the media and communications industry, the private company was founded in 1978. Ingram Content Group‘s top metrics were stability, belongingness and safety.

McKee Foods in Collegedale

Rated as one of the best companies for consumer products, the privately traded company was founded in 1934. McKee‘s top metrics were stability, belongingness and quality of pay.

Pinnacle in Nashville

Rated as a top finance and insurance organization, the publicly traded company was founded in 2000 and has a market capitalization of $7.57 billion. Pinnacle‘s top metrics were high work-life balance, stability and belongingness.

Vaco in Brentwood

Recognized as one of the best companies in consulting and human resources, the private company was founded in 2002. Vaco‘s top metrics were work-life balance, quality of pay and stability.

What are the best businesses in the United States?

There were 497 companies listed in U.S. News & World Report’s list of the best companies to work for. While the list included companies from outside of the United States, nine of the top ten companies were based in the U.S.

1stDibs in New York, is recognized as the top business to work for in the United States. Ranked as one of the best companies in consumer products. 1stDibs, founded in 2000, is a publicly traded company with a market capitalization of $89.59 million.

A10 Networks in San Jose, California, is the second-best business in the country. It is noted as among the best companies in information technology, caregiving. A10 Networks, founded in 2004, is a publicly traded company with a market capitalization of $1.18 billion.

ABC Supply in Beloit, Wisconsin, is recognized as one of the best companies in engineering and construction, with its national reputation. It is a private company that was founded in 1982.

AIG in New York, is rated among the best in finance, insurance and caregiving in the U.S. The company was founded in 1919 and is a publicly traded firm with a market capitalization of $47.67 billion.

AMD in Santa Clara, California, is recognized as one of the best in manufacturing, agriculture and caregiving in the U.S. The company was founded in 1969 and is publicly traded with a market capitalization of $146.85 billion.
