(NewsNation) — Virginia authorities are searching for a high school football coach who disappeared in the middle of an undefeated season.
Travis L. Turner, 46, is the head football coach at Union High School in Wise County, Virginia, where the team was about to play in a second-round playoff game in an undefeated season.
Turner is missing as of Thursday night.

Virginia State Police attempted to make contact with Turner at his home Thursday as part of an investigation, but on the way, they learned he was no longer there. They said they were not there to arrest Turner.
The search for Turner has focused on the area around his residence, with officers, drones and K9 units involved in the effort to locate the coach. Authorities noted that his last known location was entering the woods around his home.
Amid the search, Wise County Public Schools said an unidentified staff member was placed on administrative leave with pay, pending an internal investigation into external allegations.

The school said assistant coach Jay Edwards is handling all coaching responsibilities.
Turner is a white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is 6’3″ and 260 pounds and was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt and sweatpants, and glasses.
