The Kansas City Chiefs won a thriller in Week 12 against the Indianapolis Colts, erasing an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime, where they ended up winning 23-20. The victory moved Kansas City to 6-5 on the season, and ended a two-game losing skid.

The Chiefs will have a quick turnaround for their Week 13 matchup, as they will be featured in one of the NFL’s three Thanksgiving games. They will travel to Arlington, Texas, to take on the Dallas Cowboys, who have played on Thanksgiving nearly every year since 1996. As the Chiefs look to go on a run to make up ground on the AFC West-leading Denver Broncos (9-2), they made a couple of moves on Monday.

With the team missing its starting running back, Isiah Pacheco, who went down with a knee injury he suffered in Week 8, the running back room for the Chiefs has become quite shallow. In an effort to ease Kareem Hunt’s load, the Chiefs brought in another running back in former Houston Texans standout, Dameon Pierce.

However, in addition to bringing in Pierce, the Chiefs also confirmed they let go of rookie wide receiver Jimmy Holiday.

“We have signed RB Dameon Pierce to our Practice Squad,” wrote the Chiefs on X. “We have terminated the Practice Squad contract of WR Jimmy Holiday.”

In 42 games with the Texans, Pierce racked up 415 carries for 1,674 yards and eight touchdowns, with his rookie season in 2022 being his best year by far. After being selected with the No. 107 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Pierce burst onto the scene with 939 yards and four touchdowns, but lost the starting role a year later. He was waived earlier this month after totaling just 26 yards on the season.

As for Holiday, he had yet to register an appearance for the team after a college career that saw him play at Tennessee, Western Kentucky and Louisiana Tech.
