Canadians who take ibuprofen may want to check if the brand that they buy has been affected by Health Canada’s latest recall.
On Monday, the agency issued a recall of certain lots of Apotex Inc. Extra Strength Ibuprofen Liquid Gel Capsules.
The alert says the recall is due to a “presence of cloudy capsules in affected lots due to crystallization of ibuprofen into the gelatin shell.”

The affected capsules contain 400mg of ibuprofen. The lot numbers include: 1570621, 1570621, and 1570623.
If you think you’ve taken the affected medication, Health Canada advises you to “consult your health care professional if you have any health concerns.”
The recall is classified as a Type II, which means the use of, or exposure to, a product could cause “temporary adverse health consequences” or “where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
Health Canada advises Canadians to first verify if they have the affected ibuprofen before consulting a healthcare provider, prior to discontinuing the use of the affected product, or for any health concerns.
You can also contact Apotex Inc. if you have more questions or concerns.
Lastly, Health Canada suggests Canadians report any health product-related side effects or any other complaints.
Other recent recalls from the agency include one for a popular yogurt drink and another one for a laser pointer sold on Amazon.
A massive recall of plant-based milk products last summer is now the subject of the huge class-action settlement. Check to see if you’re eligible to cash in.
