ASTORIA, Ore. (KATU) — The Coast Guard has suspended their search for a missing person near the Columbia River Bar.
“At about 5:20 a.m. Nov. 23, Coast Guard Sector Columbia River received a 911 relay reporting a disabled vessel with one person aboard being pulled toward the Columbia River Bar,” U.S. Coast Guard Northwest District said in a statement. “Station Cape Disappointment 47-foot motor lifeboat boat crews launched in response and located a debris field and a partially submerged 16-foot power vessel in the vicinity of the report.”
Coast Guard officials say they reclassified the case as a possible person in the water, prompting the launch of a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Astoria.
