While the Los Angeles Dodgers might look to swing a deal with another club to bolster their beleaguered bullpen, their attention could go to an old friend.
Would you believe Kenley Jansen is available? Yes, Jansen is a free agent at this moment. Last season, Jansen played within close range of Dodger Stadium. Actually, Jansen ended last season with the Los Angeles Angels.

Now Jansen does have some wear and tear on his body after many years of MLB service. Yet he finished last season with an ERA of 2.59. That’s pretty good for a four-time All-Star, too.
Dodgers Nation put for the possibility of a Jansen reunion with the Dodgers online on Tuesday night.
The question is posed: Should the Dodgers get Jansen?
Let’s take a look at some career numbers for him. Jansen is 54-40 with 476 career saves and a career ERA of 2.57. He played his first 12 MLB seasons with the Dodgers, then moved on to play for the Atlanta Braves for one season, two seasons with the Boston Red Sox, and last season with the Angels.

He’s had two seasons of 41 saves, one with the Dodgers and one with the Braves. Jansen was an All-Star between 2016-18 with the Dodgers and in 2023 with the Red Sox. In that 2022 season with Atlanta when he had 41 saves, Jansen finished 54 games.
Jansen has spent more time, obviously, in the National League than he has in the American League. Because of this, Jansen is probably more aware of what NL teams have when it comes to lineups. His ERA against NL opponents career-wise is 2.46; in the AL, it’s 3.13.
Of course, he’d have to be brought up to date by Dodgers coaches on those teams’ rosters heading into the 2026 MLB season.
In four of his MLB seasons, Jansen recorded 100-plus strikeout years. But that was earlier in Jansen’s career. Last season with the Angels, he only had 57 strikeouts.

One thing to also consider regarding Jansen is that his walks totals have been low, too. He’s not liable to walk batters when coming in late in close games. Yet Jansen isn’t totally immune to not walking a batter or two in clutch time.
Would the Dodgers consider picking up Jansen from the free agent pool? It is something worth considering.
After watching Tanner Scott and Blake Treinen struggle at times, leading to Roki Sasaki turning into Dodgers manager Dave Roberts’ closer late last season, any help would be greatly appreciated by Dodgers fans.
Let’s see if the Dodgers pull the trigger on a deal. They might even talk to Jansen or Jansen’s agent when the Winter Meetings kick off in December.
