OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Omaha Police Department put out a fire in a home early Wednesday.
A call came out shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday for a fire in a home near 25th and Ellison avenues, in the North Omaha area.
A fire official tells First Alert 6 on the scene that crews saw smoke and flames were coming from the home when they first arrived.
Firefighters found a person in a bedroom that was unable to get out, and they had to break a window to get to them. The fire official says the person was pulled out to safety — with no injuries.
OFD says the wind may have played a factor in the challenge of battling the fire, as a tree next to the house also caught on fire. Crews cut the tree to make sure it did not reignite the house.
When our team was on the scene at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, we were told investigators had just arrived.
There is significant damage to the house, according to OFD. The cause of the fire is being looked into.
